Ambitious masterplan will bring investment and affordable housing to Acton

Acton Gardens, the award-winning residential development replacing Ealing Council’s South Acton housing estate, is expanding its original masterplan of 2,350 new homes, adding a further 850 to increase the percentage of affordable homes.

The original 2012 masterplan was spread over 11 phases and 15 years, but Ealing Council has taken on board changes in planning policy, enabling more homes to be added to each remaining phase by.

Under the revised masterplan, all existing tenants and leaseholders will be rehoused by autumn 2025, with construction completed by November 2028.

Acton Gardens will account for 25% of new homes built in the borough

Ealing Council will see Acton Gardens provide a quarter of all the new homes that are built in the borough between now and 2022. It is being delivered by Acton Gardens LLP which is a joint venture between Countryside developers and L & Q, the leading housing association.

Masterplan will create green space and community facilities

The overall masterplan for the regeneration of the old South Acton estate will include creating plenty of green space comprising parks, greens and squares within a vibrant urban village. This is to incorporate a new sports ground, a central square with a new supermarket, youth centre, community amenities and a new street network with a bus route to connect the development to the surrounding area.

Ealing Council’s Peter Mason, lead member for housing, planning and transformation said: “This big boost to the number of homes being built at Acton Gardens is great news for our borough. Every existing South Acton tenant who wants one of the safe, modern new flats at Acton Gardens will get one. Once completed, the new estate will host almost 1,300 socially rented homes, all of which will be well within the means of local people on low incomes.

“In the next three years, Ealing Council will create at least 2,500 genuinely affordable homes around the borough for local people, making us London’s most ambitious homebuilding council.”

Located in London zones 2 and 3, Acton is set to benefit from a new Crossrail station, increasing accessibility to the rest of the city as well as the commuter belt. Go to our investments page to see our current opportunities in and around London, as well as across the rest of the UK.
