Based on residents’ ownership of smart technology, Birmingham and Leeds are the “smartest” home technology locations in the UK.
Online smartphone retailer e2save revealed research on people’s perceptions of the newest smart home items. The retailer uncovered where residents own the most smart technology in their homes, and Property Reporter analysed the data in a recent article.
Birmingham was first on the list with residents there owning the most smart technology in their homes, followed by Leeds. Cornwall, Edinburgh, and Country Durham also made it in the top-5. Joe Linnington, a mobile expert at e2save, stated: “The future of smart tech is very exciting and it’s great to see how many people have already embraced smart devices to make their personal and home life a breeze.”
YouGov, a public opinion and data company, recently released statistics showing that 66% of people believe technology impacts their life for the better, so more homeowners, investors, and landlords are likely to adopt smart technology in their properties.
Smart technology – a lucrative investment
There are thousands of products on the market you can choose from to make your home or property “smarter”. Additionally, increased competition has caused prices of these gadgets to come down, making it more affordable for a range of people to install into their homes.
Being able to control a variety of aspects of your property at the touch of a button without even having to be there is no longer seen as a futuristic achievement. Popular home technology includes being able to control door locks, heating, lighting, and alarm systems that are often operated from a smartphone or tablet. There’s even technology available to make homes more energy efficient.
Embracing smart technology can allow developers, investors, landlords, and homeowners to enhance offerings to their properties and can even raise their property values. Moving forward, it’s likely tenants and homebuyers will look for smart home items to already be installed in properties they’re looking to rent or buy.
