Situated in the Hotel des Invalides, it contains a collection of military models, first owned by the Marquis de Louvois, the minister of war to Louis XIV. The Musée des Plans-Reliefs is situated in Les Invalides and is open from 10-5 from October to March and 10-6 from April to September.

I'm sure all the opticians out there will be pleased to know that your profession is celebrated in Paris by the Musée des Lunettes et Lorgnettes Pierre Marly, which houses a collection of almost 3,000 eyeglasses and similar objects. Of particular fascination are those glasses that once belonged to such celebrities as Elton John, Marlene Dietrich and Sarah Bernhardt.

The Musée des Lunettes et Lorgnettes Pierre Marly can be found at 380, rue Saint-Honoré and is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10-12 and 2-6.

The Musée du Fumeur can be found at 7, rue Pache and is open Tuesday - Saturday from 12.30-7.

Those with a secret desire to participate in a little criminal activity will find the Musée de la Contrefaçon an amusing place to while away an hour or two. With over 300 items on display, each counterfeit being paired with its original, you will have plenty to dream over.

The Musée de la Contrefaçon is situated at 16, rue de la Faisanderie and is open Tuesday - Sunday, 2-5.30.



The ladies who are keen to indulge their romantic and feminine side while visiting Paris might be interested in paying a visit to the L'Atelier Hoguet Musée de l'Eventail. Here you can see the workshop where fans are still made and restored as well as peruse the museum's collection of fans dating from the 18th century to the present day.

The Musée de l'Eventail is situated at 2, boulevard de Strasbourg and is open Monday - Wednesday, 2-6.
