Times are tough but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy yourself. Instead of travelling for hours to an expensive foreign country, why not spend it in the UK instead and keep it affordable. Our fair shores are home to some of the best party cities in the world, so why would you want to leave? Whether you’re organising a full-blown hen weekend or just fancy a well-earned girls weekend away then you need go no further than the UK’s finest.

Nottingham is a popular destination because of its abundance of bars and clubs, as well as a large range of restaurants, means that you will never be short of somewhere to go. From traditional pubs to trendy cocktail bars, Nottingham has something to suit any taste. Be sure to visit the trendy Lace Market area, which is packed with tearooms, bars and restaurants, and has an excellent nightlife. During the daytime Nottingham has excellent shopping with a compact pedestrian friendly city centre - have a look for vouchers before you go to ensure you get the best deals.

Another city that doesn’t sleep is Newcastle, which is infamous for its nightlife and isn’t put off by even the coldest of winters. There are always great Newcastle deals on things to do during the day, including activities like bowling and dance classes or a more relaxing day of pampering, and no girl can leave without going to Eldon Square for that essential bit of retail therapy. There is a great selection of lovely bars and restaurants along the beautiful Quayside, which has loads of up-market wine bars and swanky restaurants. If you want something a bit more cheap and cheerful then head for the Bigg market for a traditional Geordie night out with local pubs and nightclubs.

Liverpool, 2008s European city of culture, can offer you a sophisticated, educational weekend, or you can forgo multitude of museums and art galleries and just go straight just for the nightlife! Liverpool is famous for its musical heritage and vibrant nights with lots of musical events on throughout the year. You don’t have to search long for deals in Liverpool either, and can easily find vouchers for restaurants and hotels to keep the cost of your weekend down. The beautiful Albert Dock is always busy at the weekend, or you can go to Concert Square which is packed full of great bars.

A destination that has got more and more popular in recent years is coastal Bournemouth, which not only has a great nightlife but also has miles of gorgeous sandy beaches. It has stolen Brighton’s crown as the top place for hen weekends in the south for good reason, with a wide selection of cool bars and restaurants as well as a great mix of people. The more adventurous types can take advantage of the sea with loads of water sports activities on offer, or alternatively you can just chill by the beach – depending on the weather of course!
