Getting around in Las Vegas

Airport
McCarran International Airport serves Las Vegas’ domestic and international passengers and is located one mile south of the Strip.

Travelling from the airport
By taxi: McCarran to the Strip takes less than 10 minutes and costs around $15.

By shuttle: Shuttle services cost $4-5 to most hotels along the Strip.

By bus: Buses leave regularly from the airport and cost $1.50. Take the 108 or 109 to Downtown or the South Strip area.

Car Rental
Renting a car in Las Vegas might seem a bit unnecessary, mainly because other forms of transport along the Strip are plentiful, and attractions outside of the city like the Grand Canyon are best accessed by air. But if you do want a rental, they go for around $50 a day, and parking in the city is mostly free of charge.

Taxis
Taxis are easy to find anywhere along the Strip or Las Vegas Boulevard and a simple hand gesture should do the trick. It is best to pay by cash, as only Desert Cab Company cars accept credit cards.

Monorail
The Robert N. Broadbent Las Vegas Monorail operates three lines. The longest runs between the Sahara hotel and the MGM Grand. Two shorter monorails run from Treasure Island to Mirage and from Mandalay Bay to Excalibur. Expect to pay $3-5 per journey.

Buses
CAT is the name given to the public transportation system in Las Vegas and is one of the best and cheapest ways of getting about. The 301 and 302 run 24/7 up and down the Strip. Fares are $2 one way or $5 for a day pass. You must have the correct change.
