Getting around in Frankfurt
Airport
Frankfurt International airport is the principal airport and is 12km southwest of the city.
Frankfurt Hahn airport is approximately 120km west of the city in the Hunsruck.
Travelling from the airport
Frankfurt International: The journey from Frankfurt (Main) Airport to the city centre takes around 20 minutes at costs approximately €25 by taxi.
Alternatively, both the Inter City (ICE) and local (S-Bahn) train services are conveniently situated in Terminal 1, with bus and Sky Line links from Terminal 2. Local transport tickets are also available from ticket machines, situated at the local railway station. Remember that you will need to obtain a ticket before boarding the train.
Frankfurt Hahn: An hourly bus service runs from Frankfurt/Main central railway station (Hauptbahnhof) via Frankfurt International Airport Terminal 1, taking about 1 hour 45 mins.
There are also buses every hour between Frankfurt-Hahn and the closest main railway station located in Mainz (60km away), served by trains to and from many parts of Germany. Other buses connect Hahn to the main railway station in Cologne (Köln).
Getting Around
Frankfurt is linked by a network of fast, modern subways, trams, and buses, all of which are administered by the RMV (Rhein-Main Verkehrsverbund).
The Frankfurt Card is an economical way of using the network and is available as a one-day card and a two-day card.
