Getting around in Copenhagen
Getting around in Copenhagen
Airport
Copenhagen is served by one of Northern Europe’s transport hubs, Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup). It serves nearly 60,000 passengers each day, and has excellent connections to the rest of Europe and beyond.
Travelling from the airport
By Taxi: Copenhagen Airport to the city centre costs DKK 375 and takes about 25 minutes.
By train: Copenhagen Airport to Copenhagen Central Station costs DKK 25.50 and takes about 20 minutes.
By bus: Copenhagen Airport to Copenhagen city centre costs DKK 25.50 and takes about 45 minutes.
Getting Around
Metro: The Copenhagen Metro uses driverless trains and has two lines which run from suburban Vanløse to Vestamager and Lergravsparken, both situated on the island of Amager. To take the Metro, you use the same tickets as for other trains and buses in metropolitan Copenhagen. A single-ride two-zone ticket costs DKK 20 while a two-zone multi-ride ticket with ten clips (rides) costs DKK 125. Children under the age of twelve travel free when accompanied by an adult.
There is a useful online journey planner. Metro tickets can be purchased from Metro ticket machines located in all stations. There are special tickets for dogs and bicycles.
CPHCARD
The CPHCARD gives you free transport by train, bus and Metro, including to and from the airport. Further, the card gives free entry to 60 museums and attractions plus discounts on restaurants, car hire, and many other attractions. They can be purchased online, at tourist offices, Kastrup airport and major train stations. Prices start at DKK 199 for a 24-hour card and DKK 429 for a 72-hour card.
Taxis
Copenhagen’s taxis are safe, new and quite expensive. They are easy to hail on the street; alternatively you can call 35 35 35 35.
