Eat, shop and snooze in Amsterdam
Amsterdam is a laid back and easily manageable city with plenty to do and see. More canals than Venice mean you are never far from the sight of water - or cyclists. Not for nothing is this city referred to as ‘bicycle capital of the world’, since almost every one of Amsterdam’s residents owns a cycle, including the Royal Family.
Whether you want to see impressive architecture or historical attractions, have fun or simply relax, Amsterdam is a great destination for a city break.

Nomads, Rozengracht 133

Great for night owls too. Chill as the DJ mixes Arab music with Western dance music. Sometimes a belly dancer makes an appearance too!
Where to Shop:
The Nine Streets
These narrow streets which intersect the main canals between the Leidsestraat and the Jordaan district bristle with restaurants, cafés, art galleries, jewellers, boutiques and vintage stores.
If you want to snap up some works of upcoming Dutch designers visit:

On the Van Baerlestraat there is a large Vanillia store - a popular Dutch brand. Famous Dutch designers Percy Irausquin and Marlies Dekkers have shops on the Cornelis Schuytstraat.
Department stores and shopping centres
The Maison de Bonneterie is a posh department store on the Kalverstraat where you can find labels like Armani Jeans, Burberry, Diesel, Dolce & Gabbana, DKNY, Ferragamo, Gant, Hugo Boss, Polo Ralph Lauren, Riani and Marc Cain.
Magna Plaza, an exclusive shopping centre in a stunning monumental building, is located at the Dam Square.
The Kalverstraat and Leidsestraat
These are the two main shopping streets in Amsterdam’s city centre. The Leidsestraat has the more exclusive shops while the Kalverstraat is home to all the High Street names including H&M, Mexx, Zara and Miss Sixty.
If it's antiques that make you happy, go to the Spiegelkwartier. There are more than 70 antique shops and galleries here with impressive collections of paintings, ceramics, glass, jewellery, furniture and tribal and Asiatic collectibles.
