Party ruins £4 million villa - 30 May 2008

‘Mum, can I have a few friends round for my birthday?’ – most parents will have heard this plea at some point during the teenage years of their offspring, usually followed by promises of good behaviour and only a few invites being extended. While the vast majority of these parties pass off with little or no incident, the owners of a £4 million villa on Costa del Sol will be regretting their decision to allow their daughter to host her 16th birthday party there last week.

The family villa, on the exclusive El Paraiso development near Marbella, was invaded by up to 400 teenagers from all over the Costa del Sol and trashed. Extensive damage was caused throughout the property, up to £6,000 worth of jewellery was stolen and the police were called to search everyone leaving the premises. The mother of the teenager was present throughout the party, but was powerless to prevent the damage or theft from so many youngsters.

Jodie Hudson had advertised the party on her Facebook and Bebo social networking pages, claiming that there would be copious amounts of alcohol available and that it would be the ‘party of the year’. In some ways, that turned out to be true, as teenagers turned up and proceeded to ruin most of the rooms, after apparently being told that it wouldn’t matter as the couple who owned the villa were ‘getting divorced’.

While Mr. and Mrs. Hudson are separated and the house is on the market, the party certainly got out of hand, with reports of furniture and TV sets littering the pool. The teenager seemed unrepentant on her Bebo page after the party, claiming that she had been grounded until the summer, but admitting that there was a huge amount of damage and clothes had been stolen.

The villa has in the past rented out for up to £4,000 per week, playing host to Premiership footballers. With the damage apparently caused to walls, carpets, staircases and furniture, it is not thought it will be repaired in time to be rented this summer. It will probably come with a strict ‘no parties’ rule from now on.
