Meet the experts - live! - 26 February 2007
This weekend is your chance to come along and meet the BuyAssociation team in person, and get all of your questions about buying property overseas answered. In addition, BuyAssociation host Adrian Mills will be there to interview leading industry figures and members of the public about the exhibition, and overseas property in general.
The exhibition runs from Friday 2nd March until Sunday 4th March, at the ExCeL centre in London’s Docklands, showcasing the best in UK and overseas property, allied to a comprehensive seminar programme giving you the advice you need to find your perfect property. One of these seminars will be given by BuyAssociation overseas property editor, Paul Collins, who will be outlining the advantages of the leaseback system to those who wish to invest in property in France.
For further details on the show and the seminar programme, and to register for free tickets, visit www.homebuyer.co.uk and enter the word ‘BUY’ when prompted.
Of course, it pays to be well-prepared in advance of a visit to an exhibition. There are many willing detractors ready to criticize the traditional overseas property exhibition as nothing more than an extended sales pitch, where unsuspecting members of the public are pounced upon by hungry sales people at every turn. It is easy to forget that looking for a dream property overseas can be quite a detached process. It is difficult to imagine exactly how a property, development or even an area will look through magazines, newspapers or the internet, although marketing materials have become much more sophisticated recently.
The advantage of exhibitions like this is that you have the opportunity to speak directly to someone who knows the property and the area inside out. You can ask all of the questions you wish – and especially the awkward questions – and it is far more difficult for the representative to sidestep them when you are standing there waiting for an answer.
This is not to suggest that an exhibition is a substitute to going out to visit a property before you make any commitment to buy, or that there is not a place for other sources of information in your overseas property search. But, at the same time, if you do your research and you know to expect that people will be trying to sell you something; there is no reason not to use these exhibitions as a valuable stage in your buying process.
We look forward to seeing you on stand 34!
