The Solution to the peak oil Problem

The Need - Peak Oil
World oil production will peak by 2030 according to industry experts. Recent oil finds in Brazil and improvement in Oil extraction procedures in Russia have not even quelled concerns about Peak Oil.

The global output of crude oil is rapidly reaching its peak. If we consider what a large portion of our daily existence is dependent on fuel... it really is alarming! World output is falling whilst demand is rising.

Advancements in energy efficient motor vehicles and the political drive, in first world counties, to become more conscious of and are not going to stifle the rampant demand for oil from developing countries like China and India. Developing counties are less concerned with Green credentials and are more focused in functionality; motor vehicles are not the most fuel efficient, combined with growing industries place increased pressure on fuel demand.

Steve Sorrell, senior researcher at the UK Energy Research Centre, said: “In our view, forecasts which delay a peak in conventional oil production until after 2030 are at best optimistic and at worst implausible. And given the world’s overwhelming dependence upon oil and the time required to develop alternatives, 2030 isn’t far away.” Oct 2009

International support – alternative energy investment
The International Energy Agency (IEA) said last week that a $10trn investment in renewable energy, biofuels and nuclear power over the next 20 years is necessary. News24 Article

Investor -George Soros- has pledged $ 1 Billion to clean energy technology.

Canadian Government has given Millions of dollars of incentives to Biodiesel. Canadian plants produce 130 million to 140 million litres of biodiesel, with demand expected to rise to 500 million to 600 million litres.

EU target - 10% of all diesel to be biodiesel by 2020

The Solution: Green Fuel
The substitute -Green Fuel – is not complete solution on its own but will definite strides in the right direction. There is an amazing Green Fuel which is produced from the Jatropha tree; it grow in land unsuitable for farming food products, it produces pods which when crushed can be used as fuel.

Green fuel has already been tested on a Boeing 747 flight, by NZ Airlines. The benefits of the Jatropha tree are that it is carbon neutral in its production and that it has less harmful to the environment with lower emissions.

Investment in Green Fuels is not only profitable – with proven 14% returns per annum - but that it is an ethical investment that will uplift poor communities in countries such Thailand, India, Central Africa and parts of South America. Small communities are able to farm Jatropha tree on land unfit for food production. It needs very little water.
