The end of Botox®? - 17 April 2008

With the introduction to a London clinic of a new technique in facial rejuvenation, the practice of having Botox® injections in order to reduce the appearance of wrinkles may become a thing of the past.

Medicetics, the new medi-spa on Connaught Street has introduced Portrait® Skin Regeneration into the UK to allow British patients to enjoy the treatment that patients in the US have been raving about for the past 18 months.

“Portrait is the next step in skin and tissue regeneration which is why as residents of London we are proud to be able to offer what our colleagues across the pond have been raving about for the last 18 months”, says Dr. Geoffrey Mullan, co-founder Medicetics. “A treatment that, unlike any other, has been proven to restore skin to a more youthful structure.”

The procedure is unique in that is causes changes to occur deeper in the skin layers, and promotes the growth of new cells to make the effects last far longer than Botox® treatments. Plasma energy is used to treat the deeper layers of the skin, leaving the outer layer of skin to act as a shield to protect the regeneration of skin cells that is occurring below the surface.

Over time, the changes in the skin’s condition become more pronounced and intensify, producing dramatic results, especially on expression lines around the yes and mouth and reducing the appearance of dark spots from sun damage.

Portrait is a simple, non-invasive procedure that is backed by extensive clinical research and trials. Regional treatments on specific parts of the face cost from £250; while a full-face high energy treatment is around £3,000.
