The six-month breast enhancement - 7 September 2007

A new procedure has come to light that should allow women to undergo breast enlargement procedures within the space of a lunch break, leading to further concerns over patients’ attitudes to surgical processes.

The new hour-long treatment involves the injection of a mix of so-called ‘supercharged’ cells which will gradually add to the present tissue to produce an expanding effect.

The cell injection will be made up of a mixture of the patient’s own stem cells from the buttock or belly area, combined with regenerative cells to allow them to take hold and enlarge the breasts over a period of six months.

The cell mixture, called ‘Celution’, could be available from next year throughout Europe, and is bound to reopen the debate about the amount of consultation that candidates for surgery should have before they are allowed to undergo any kind of procedure. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) recommends that anyone considering any form of surgery should consult with a professional cosmetic surgeon and allow themselves ample time to reflect on the decision.
