Festive beauty tips - Caroline Clapperton, Planet Skincare
Become the Ultimate Christmas Cracker
Become the Ultimate Christmas Cracker this year with some beauty tips for the festive season.
Christmas and New Year is the one time of the year when we all want to look our best, whether an office party, a New Years Eve party or simply during Christmas Day Lunch.
It's easy to get caught up with the rush of Christmas and then before you know it, Christmas is here, and that planned pre beauty pampering time has disappeared.
Your beauty regime can start a few weeks before Christmas, drinking more water and making sure you’re following a healthy diet.
So to help you become the ultimate Christmas Cracker this year here are a few simple beauty tips that can make you feel good during the festive season, plus your skin will look fresh and radiant:-
*Preparation is everything. The winter weather and office environment can create dull and dehydrated skin. Drink plenty of water. Carry a bottle of water with you when you go outside. Herbal tea is also great when it’s really cold. Your skin will soon have a healthy glow. So drink up and don’t let your skin go thirsty!
*Treat yourself to a facial or exfoliation treatment to slough off those dead skin cells to reveal lush bright radiant skin.
*Early to bed, early to rise! You’re eyes will complain if they are kept up night after night. Sleep keeps your oxygen levels at a premium allowing your skin cells to renew quicker.
*Try a facial mask. A facial mask is one of the most ancient forms of beauty treatments known all around the world and keeps your skin smooth, silky and radiant. If you haven’t time to visit a professional why not try a home made mask? An oatmeal mask is a great remedy for skin beaten by a cold wind. To make it, mix together in equal proportions raw oatmeal flakes, egg yolk, and honey. Keep the mask on your face for about 20 minutes, wash with lukewarm water, and pat dry. After the application, your skin should feel very soft, refreshed, and healed. If you have combination skin suffering from pre Christmas blues, try a softening banana mask. Mix mashed banana with fresh sweet cream and apply this wonderful mask all over your face for 30 minutes. It will smooth, soften, moisturise and nourish your skin.
*Don’t forget to moisturise both in the morning and before you go to bed. If you skin is very dry from the winter weather instead of over moisturising increase your exfoliation using a gentle facial exfoliant. Choose a really good moisturizer. Without doubt, this is the most important pre Christmas pampering skin care tip.
*Take care of those fingers and toes! There are a whole host of professional manicure and pedicure treatments you can choose from to really glam up those pinkies, which if carried out regularly can really improve the appearance of them but also helps the nails to grow and stay strong. You could always cheat with acrylic nails which gives you perfect looking nails every time!
*Time to defuzz! Professional salons offer waxing treatments from legs to eyebrows, waxing will leave you with silky smooth skin for up to six weeks. Don’t forget to plan in advance as hair does need to be a minimum of 2mm in length.
*Why not top off your pre Christmas pampering with a self tanning treatment? This is the perfect, safe way to achieve a golden glow that will set off that that new party dress perfectly. Don’t forget though if applying a home treatment, remember exfoliate those hands, knees, feet and elbows and apply plenty of moisturiser to any dry areas!
*Perfecting your hair and make-up adds the finishing touches to your Christmas and New Year look. Most of us tend to stick to the same hairstyle and make-up. Be adventurous, well it is Christmas after all; why not try a different hairstyle or different make-up colours?
