The liposuction diaries - Feedback - 24 January 2008

Next week I’m going to show my saddlebags

Day seven

Since I embarked on this particular endeavour (having liposuction on my hideous saddlebags) – I have been talking to the people around me about it to gauge their reactions (or even, if I’m honest, gain validation).

The response has, in the main, been really positive, especially from other women. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the idea has been received with almost over-excitable enthusiasm. I wasn’t expecting that. I was expecting some slightly raised eyebrows, coupled with a mildly judgemental, “Mmmmm..”. But no, instead, I have had a fair proportion of women (and they are, in the main, women) go on to tell me what they would have done if they had the guts/money. Popular procedures include, but are not limited to:

- Botox (in at number one with a bullet!)
- Nose jobs
- Thread lifts
- Liposuction – but the “Smart” kind, not the old fashioned kind. Apparently, it’s less invasive (liking the sound of that) and less painful. (More on Smart Lipo later – I’m going to check it out).

Bottom line, I have never met a woman who was completely happy with her body. Ever. And I’m a girls’ girl – most of my friends are female. Even those who are skinny minnies have issues, including my beautiful and gorgeous BFF. But she does have reservations about what I’m proposing, as she thinks it’s quite an extreme way to do something about the way I look.

Husband is supportive, which is great, but I’m not doing it for him. My question to you is: if you had the guts/money to have “something done”, then what would it be? And if not, why not?

I'd have my nipples reduced

2. Sophs - January 25, 2008

I should explain that i think my nipples are like plates and I'm convinced I'm a freak. I often look at page three of the sun. This is purely to check out if others suffer from large areola syndrome, not for titillation.

I'd have my nipples reduced from size DD to B :P A tummy tuck wouldn't go amiss with my muffin top ;)

I too have been concidering liposuction by vasar for about 6 months now, and had a consultation with a top surgeon at harley street. It seems fairly straightforward. Its also for my disgusting saddlebags that put my body totally out of proportion. I despise them with a passion. The worst thing is they continue to expand and expand and no amount of exercise or disipline works anymore. Im also mid 30's so the scary thing now is I think Im on the downward slope and I cant see the saddlebags betting better, only worse! So I too am between two minds. My only real reservation is; will we in 10 or 20 years time read about how damagnig it was and how it is actually unsafe and causes/leads to disease etc etc. In other words, Im scared there is not enough research to date on it yet at the same time Im sorely tempted! Dillema....
I'll be watchnig your space so keep me posted. x

5. Debra King - March 11, 2008

I am off to Brussels on 31st of march to have liposuction on the 1st of April, i am so looking forward to it having 4 areas done then going back in 4 months to have a tummy tuck. Every one i have spoke to about it have all been so positive and have all said that if they had the chance they would have it done as well. I cant wait to see the new me.
