Beautytek

The objectives

Beautytek is a non-surgical body-shaping procedure using low-frequency electrical impulses which are passed into the body. It differs from micro-current machines which primarily stimulate muscles, and it uses much less energy.

It is touted as a holistic therapy as it provides stimulation so that the body produces increased energy to repair cells and produce collagen.

The procedure also claims to provide an overall improvement in health through the removal of excess water, fat and waste products from the system. As well as body sculpting, it can also treat scars, stretch marks, acne and water retention.

The procedure

The procedure can be carried out in around 60 minutes, however treatments for the face and legs may take longer.

The practitioner will first examine the area you want treated and discuss an effective plan with you. You will then lie on a therapy couch and hold a conductor in one hand. The other conductor is connected to the computer and will be held by the practitioner, thus creating a circuit between your body, the computer and the electrodes. The practitioner will then move the electrode along acupressure points relating to the area being treated. As the treatment progresses, the computer will analyse and modulate your body’s natural electrical current.

A series of digital photos will be taken on the completion of each session so that you can compare your progress.

You should not feel any pain during the procedure, however some patients feel a slight tingling sensation in particular areas as the current passes through the wand. Some patients having facial treatment have reported a metallic taste in their mouth if they have any fillings.

The outcome

Normally, you can leave the clinic immediately after the procedure and return to work straight away. The area being treated may look smoother and firmer after one treatment, but a series of twelve treatments are usually necessary to reveal full results.

The effects are permanent, however maintenance treatments are recommended combined with a sensible eating and exercise plan.

The risks

There are no known side-effects or complications from Beautytek. However, as a result of the lymphatic system being stimulated, you may feel the urge to pass water during and after the treatment.

Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a pacemaker or a history of epilepsy or cancer should not have this treatment.

The costs

Usually, treatments start at £30 for scarring, acne or cellulite, and £100 for treatments on the abdomen, breast, hip and buttocks.

The availability

Beautytek is widely available at private cosmetic surgery clinics and specialist skin care clinics in the UK and abroad.

The popularity

Beautytek is a relatively new procedure in the UK and is still growing in popularity. The most popular treatments are abdomen fat reduction, abdomen skin firming, arm firming, arm reduction, bottom and hip fat reduction, breast firming and lifting, cellulite reduction, facial rejuvenation, leg fat reduction and leg skin firming.
