The former industrial towns of Sheffield, Leeds and Hull are now attracting modern industries such as IT and law, meaning that property in the city centres of Yorkshire and Humberside can command a premium. In addition, says property journalist Laura Latham, many warehouses and mills are currently being converted in order to offer the ultimate in modern living.

By start contrast, costal homes and country piles are also available, while market towns such as Harrogate are proving to be ever-popular. Good hospitals and educational facilities complete the picture of a regions that provides a great quality of life.
