Building Regulations

If you plan to make any structural alterations to a building, you will also need to make a Building Regulations application to your local authority before starting work. Work will need to be inspected by a building inspector at regular intervals to ensure that it complies with the approved plans. Don’t do anything unless you’re sure that you’re doing it correctly or that it doesn’t need approval, otherwise you may need to do it all over again (you could even be required to dig up foundations if it’s suspected that they weren’t laid correctly!).
