There were over 2,500 abdominoplasty procedures last year, an increase of nearly 50%, according to surgeons from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). These figures indicate that the stomach is an area which many people seek to improve and Dalia Nield from BAAPS joins us to discuss with Maggie Philbin exactly what to expect from a tummy tuck.

Dalia relates what the surgery involves, and touches on the candidates who would be suitable for this type of surgery, including people who have lost a large amount of weight and have what is known as a ‘hanging apron’ (excess skin) at the front of their bodies. However, she points out that abdominoplasty should not a solution to a weight problem.

Risks, recovery times and costs are also discussed, as well as how you can choose the best surgeon to undertake the procedure.
