Laser hair removal is a technique which uses a medical laser of white light to remove unwanted hair from areas of the body.

Dalia Nield, a surgeon from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) tells Maggie Philbin how lasers work in hair removal. She reveals that although this is classed as a permanent treatment, the success rate is only 70%, as hair grows at varying speeds, although the remaining hair becomes lighter and thinner.

Dalia discusses the risks involved, which include burning and changes in pigmentation and hair colour. People with darker skins particularly need to be tested before they have laser treatment.

Recovery times, costs and the number of sessions, as well as a host of other key facts are also covered in this podcast.
